The standards every page follows
- Prices and facts are dated. Every price, time and claim carries the month we checked it, so you can see how current it is.
- The cheapest option comes first. When we write about getting to Bristol Airport or around the city, we lead with the bus and the train if they're cheaper, and we say so plainly.
- Competitors are named and rated. When we compare firms, we list them by name with their real ratings and prices, including the ones that score poorly. See Bristol taxi companies compared.
- Surveys run on equal terms. Our annual price survey prices every firm on exactly the same journeys and terms, and we print the results as they come.
How the site may earn money
We'd rather be upfront about this than have you guess. A guide like this can earn its keep through clearly labelled referrals and sponsorship, and in future possibly through clearly marked affiliate links or advertising. What we will not do is dress up paid placement as a neutral recommendation. If a link or listing ever earns us money, or a section is sponsored, we'll say so next to it.
Our rules
- Competitors always appear. Our comparison and survey pages must name real rivals, or they don't publish.
- No hiding the losers. If a firm scores badly on something, it stays in the table.
- Paid means labelled. Referrals, sponsorship and any affiliate links are marked as such, every time.
- Corrections are public. We fix errors openly rather than quietly editing them away. See our corrections policy.
